About
I've always loved coffee...after working for several years as a barista, I quickly realized that coffee was not just a job for me, but a true passion.
I honestly just want to create a place for people to meet each other, share a great cup of coffee and unwind. I hope that my guests can leave the hustle and bustle of their day behind as they enjoy the aroma and flavors of not just amazing coffee, but also home-baked pastries, artisan sandwiches, fresh salads and a hearty breakfast menu.
My search for the perfect location took me to several towns, but ultimately I found the perfect place....the corner of Medina and High Street in Cairo, NE. Originally built as the Farmers State Bank of Cairo around 1915, the building wore many hats over the next 100 years, but still had the charm and charisma I imagined. Renovations quickly revealed the original tin ceilings, bank vault and plaster walls. I was in love. Using the building directly to the north as additional and cozy seating, I began to create The Medina Street Vault. With my whole family beside me, we set out on the adventure. Passion (and high levels of caffienation) fueled the project, only a few months later, The Vault was opened. Since then, we've enjoyed the process of meeting so many people from across the state and the nation!
The details are mine, and the style is eclectic. Most of the furniture I found, reclaimed and repurposed. I want a place for a family to enjoy a meal or for great friends to lose three hours in conversation over a latte. I know how busy life can be, so I do offer a To-Go Menu. But, I encourage you to take one of our seating areas as your own for a bit, try a specialty drink in a comforting ceramic mug, and breathe deep.
Most of all, thank you for the opportunity to be here in Cairo, doing what I love!
